Mammoth Re-Sign Coyle
Veteran defenseman Pat Coyle re-sings with the Colorado Mammoth for a third season. Coyle, a veteran of ten NLL seasons, won his fifth championship with the Mammoth in 2006 after winning four with the Toronto Rock. The Mammoth assistant captain routinely draws the assignment of covering the opposition's best forwards. He is a four-time All-Star and in 2002 was named the league's best defenseman and first-team All-Pro.

"The leadership, experience and toughness Pat brings to our team is invaluable," Mammoth general manager Steve Govett said. "He's one of the best defenders ever to play in this league and has been a huge part of our success."

Coyle, 37, is a six-foot, 220-pound native of Orangeville, Ontario. He has twice led the NLL in penalty minutes (1998 and 2001) and his 357 career penalty minutes rank second in league history. He played both collegiate hockey and lacrosse at the Rochester Institute of Technology and lives in Coquitlam, British Columbia.

Stealth Sign Sorensen
San Jose Stealth Assistant General Manager Doug Locker has announced that the club signed rookie defenseman Kyle Sorensen to a one-year contract. Sorensen was recently drafted as the second overall selection in the 2006 National Lacrosse League Entry Draft at Madison Square Garden.

The six-foot-two, 220-pound native of Peterborough, Ontario has won the Mann Cup twice, awarded to the senior men's lacrosse champions in Canada.

"We expect Kyle can step in and play for us right away," said Locker. "He is a tough, athletic, and very skilled lacrosse player whom we expect to see in our opening day lineup."

The 20-year-old has also led the Peterborough Lakers to the 2006 Minto Cup junior Lacrosse championship and was named the league's defenseman of the year. Sorenson also played one season for the Bellarmine University Knights in 2006 where he gathered a team high 66 ground balls in 15 games.
