The Calgary Roughnecks recently announced the signing of free agent forward Curt Malawsky for the 2008 season. Malawsky scored 24 goals and tallied 21 assists for 45 points in fourteen games played last season. The veteran is no stranger to the playoffs, having reached the post-season in eight of his ten seasons of pro lacrosse."Curt is the perfect complement to the players we have on the right side", said Roughnecks GM Kurt Silcott. "He's a pure finisher and I am certain his creativity and knowledge will spark our offense. Because he was an unrestricted free agent, a number of teams were trying to get him and I feel lucky he chose to sign with us."
In 128 career regular season games, Malawsky has scored 214 goals and tallied 235 assists for 449 points. In 15 career playoff games, he has averaged better than a goal and a half per game, scoring 24 goals and adding 16 assists.
