LEAGUE LIFTS CLARK SUSPENSION

Toronto head coach cleared to return to coaching duties

02/13/2008

The National Lacrosse League announced today that the league has lifted the suspension of Toronto Rock Head Coach Glenn Clark. Clark had been suspended on January 17th for his role in a post-game incident occurring on January 11th following the Toronto Rock's loss to the Minnesota Swarm in Toronto. In lifting the suspension, the league issued a fine to Clark for his role in the incident. The lifting of the suspension is conditional upon Clark avoiding violating terms of a probationary period which runs through the 2009 season as well as certain conditions for the duration of his NLL career.

NLL Commissioner Jim Jennings met with Clark on Monday night in New York City.

"After meeting with Glenn, I am satisfied that he appreciates the gravity of what has occurred. I have weighed all of the facts produced during our investigation, as well information that became available from the criminal proceeding, and I am satisfied that the discipline administered is exactly appropriate for this case", said Commissioner Jennings.

Criminal charges filed against Clark by Toronto Police were dropped on February 5th. Clark is in his second season as head coach of the Rock following a nine-season NLL playing career from 1998 through 2006.
