03/05/2008
Eight players have new teams after the dust settled on a trio of trades on Wednesday. The Edmonton Rush were most active, sending forward AJ Shannon to Philadelphia in a three-way deal with Minnesota. Forward Mike Hominuck joins the Rush, while forwards Keith Cromwell and Dan Marohl go from the Wings to the Swarm. Edmonton also dealt a pair of draft picks to Chicago in exchange for forward Lindsay Plunkett.Chicago and Philadelphia continued dealing players, as the Shamrox sent starting goaltender Brandon Miller to the Wings for goaltender Matt Roik and the rights to defenseman Brad Self. The two teams also swapped a trio of draft picks in the deal.
EDMONTON:
Deals AJ Shannon (to Philadelphia), 2009 second-round draft pick (to Minnesota), 2008 conditional third-round draft pick (to Chicago), 2009 conditional third-round draft pick (to Chicago)
Acquires Mike Hominuck (from Minnesota), Lindsay Plunkett (from Chicago), 2008 first-round draft pick (from Minnesota)
"Obviously losing a player like AJ is tough and we wish him well, we have gained a couple of players in return that will have immediate impact, as well, we are now back in the 1st round of the 2008 draft which will yield a good young player for our future." said Rush GM/Head Coach Bob Hamley.
MINNESOTA:
Deals Mike Hominuck (to Edmonton), 2008 first-round draft pick (to Edmonton), 2008 fourth-round draft pick (to Philadelphia)
Acquires Keith Cromwell (from Philadelphia), Dan Marohl (from Philadelphia), 2009 second-round draft pick (from Edmonton)
"Recent injuries have made us question the depth our team had for a serious playoff run this season," said O'Neill. "With Cromwell and Marohl we gain two players with solid NLL experience and players I trust because of our past history. Both guys are gifted offensive talents with size and speed, something you can never have enough of."
"The last two seasons we have entered the playoffs short an offensive starter or two because of injuries," added O'Neill. "This trade will provide our injured players the opportunity to fully recover and allows our team to focus on what is in front of us in the second half of the season."
PHILADELPHIA:
Deals Matt Roik (to Chicago), Keith Cromwell (to Minnesota), Dan Marohl (to Minnesota), rights to Brad Self (to Chicago), 2009 first-round draft pick (to Chicago), 2010 second-round draft pick (to Chicago)
Acquires Brandon Miller (from Chicago), AJ Shannon (from Edmonton), 2008 second-round draft pick (from Chicago), 2008 fourth-round draft pick (from Minnesota)
"AJ Shannon is a proven scorer that will add much needed depth to our offense on the left side," said Wings GM Lindsay Sanderson. "In the case of Miller, we had the opportunity to add another number one goalie to our camp and could not pass that up. The coaching staff and I knew we needed to increase our depth and this move adds two big pieces to the puzzle."
CHICAGO:
Deals Brandon Miller (to Philadelphia), Lindsay Plunkett (to Edmonton), 2008 second-round draft pick (to Philadelphia)
Acquires Matt Roik (from Philadelphia), rights to Brad Self (from Philadelphia), 2009 first-round draft pick (from Philadelphia), 2010 second-round draft pick (from Philadelphia), 2008 conditional third-round draft pick (from Edmonton), 2009 conditional third-round draft pick (from Edmonton)
