04/01/2008

Chicago's Cody Jacobs was named Offensive Player and Overall Player of the Week. The 22-year-old forward scored six goals and one assist in the Shamrox's 15-10 win over Minnesota on Saturday at Sears Centre. The game marked just the fourth start of the season for the second-year pro, who saw his first action of 2008 on March 1st. Jacobs scored five of his goals in a 9-0 Chicago run that spanned through the entire second and third quarters. The win marked the second straight for the Shamrox (3-7).

Edmonton's Rory Glaves was named Defensive Player of the Week. Glaves defended San Jose All-Star forward Colin Doyle for much of the game, holding him scoreless in the Rush's 12-5 victory over the Stealth on Saturday at Rexall Place. The 26-year-old defender also scooped four loose balls and scored a shorthanded goal in the win.

Teammate Chris McKay was named Transition Player of the Week. McKay recorded one goal, three assists, and 12 loose balls in his first-career game in a Rush jersey. The 27-year-old Victoria native did not see any action in 2008 until the Rush signed him last Tuesday. Edmonton (3-7) has won three of their last four games.

Rochester's Matt MacLeod was named Rookie of the Week. The 20-year-old forward matched a career-high with two goals and one assist in Rochester's 20-12 win over first-place Philadelphia on Saturday at Blue Cross Arena. The Knighthawks (5-6) currently trail Buffalo by 1.5 games for the final playoff spot in the East.
