Former Calgary Roughnecks head coach Chris Hall has joined the San Jose Stealth coaching staff as an offensive coach, the team announced today. Hall re-unites with head Jeff Dowling, who was named Stealth head coach last week. The Stealth will also retain Art Webster, who manages the defense, while Joe Romano returns for his second season and will coach the goaltenders.
Dowling previously served under Hall as an assistant with the Calgary Roughnecks.
Hall joins the Stealth after serving as head coach in Calgary for six years (2002-2007). During his tenure in Calgary, he never suffered a losing season and guided the Roughnecks to the postseason four times, leading them to the NLL title in 2004.
Webster, a member of the Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame, has been with the Stealth for the last three seasons.
"Adding Chris Hall to the staff was an easy decision and we're thrilled that he was available," said Dowling. "To land someone with that kind of experience and a history of winning will be a great benefit to the team. Chris and I became great friends in Calgary and I learned a lot under his tutelage. He will be a tremendous asset running the offense in San Jose. We are all very pleased that Art has agreed to stay on with the Stealth. Every player on the roster has great respect for him and he will continue to guide our defense."
"I'm very excited to join the Stealth organization," said Hall. "I think we have a great team and I'm anxious to get started on helping to win an NLL Championship for San Jose."
"What Jeff has done by adding Chris and Art to the bench is that he has delivered one of the top coaching staffs in the NLL. It's a championship caliber group," said Stealth President/General Manager Johnny Mouradian. "We already have a great deal of talent on our roster and we will continue to build our team so that we can pursue that title."
