FIVE PLAYERS SWAPPED IN THREE-WAY DEAL

San Jose & Calgary re-acquire players lost in Expansion Draft

07/30/2008

The expansion Boston Blazers pulled the trigger on a pair of trades on Tuesday which sends forward Tom Johnson back to San Jose, and defenseman Devan Wray back to Calgary.

Boston acquires forward Sean Morris and defenseman Steve Panarelli in the trades, while San Jose adds defenseman Travis Gillespie.

The Blazers first dealt Wray to the Roughnecks in exchange for Gillespie and a draft pick. Boston then flipped Gillespie to San Jose, along with Johnson, to acquire Morris and Panarelli.

Boston also acquires Calgary's third round pick in the 2009 Entry Draft and San Jose's second round pick in the 2010 Entry Draft. The Stealth pick up Boston's third round pick in the 2009 Entry Draft as well.

In 13 regular season games with the Roughnecks last season, Wray tallied two goals and nine assists for 11 points. Over a total of four seasons, the 28-year-old has registered nine goals and 32 assists for 41 points.

"We're happy to have Devan back on our roster. He's been a huge contribution to this team and this city," said Roughnecks President Brad Banister. "We appreciate the value he has brought to the community, and we're glad to get the deal accomplished."

Gillespie has not seen time on the Roughnecks squad since 2006, where he played in nine games collecting a total of 11 points. In 46 regular season games in the National Lacrosse League, Gillespie has tallied 39 points, including 13 goals and 26 assists.

"With Tom Johnson back in the fold, our left side is strong, said Stealth President/GM Johnny Mouradian. "Tom played well in his rookie season last year with us and is having an outstanding summer. Travis is a big strong left handed defender with NLL experience, he plays the game at a very high level. We will certainly miss Steve Panarelli and Sean Morris, both gave their heart and soul to our organization."
