ROUGHNECKS SIGN CURT MALAWSKY

Calgary also inks Dane Dobbie & John Lintz

08/21/2008

The Calgary Roughnecks signed Curt Malawsky, Dane Dobbie and John Lintz to one-year contracts this week.

In 2008, his first season in Calgary, Malawsky tallied 44 points, including 22 goals and 22 assists in 15 games. The 11-year veteran has recorded 236 goals and 257 assists in 143 career games.

"I'm very happy to have Curt back as he is one of the league's top players," said Roughnecks President and GM Brad Banister. "Curt is a finesse player who has a strong connection with Tracey Kelusky. They balance well off each other, they are both finishers, good goal scorers, and have intelligent lacrosse minds."

Dobbie was drafted in the first round of the 2007 Entry Draft by the Roughnecks. He appeared in five games in his rookie season, scoring two goals and five assists.

"He is probably the most sought after player in our league right now for upcoming offensive talent," added Banister.

Lintz was drafted by the Edmonton Rush in last year's Entry Draft as well, but did not crack the club's opening day roster.

"We're going to have a huge battle for lefties on our team," said Banister. "We welcome John to that opportunity to compete for a position with the Calgary Roughnecks."
