SCOTT EVANS TO MISS 2009 SEASON

Knighthawks forward suffers torn ACL in training camp

12/16/2008

Rochester Knighthawks General Manager Regy Thorpe announced today that forward Scott Evans is expected to miss the 2009 National Lacrosse League season after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and a torn meniscus in his left knee on Saturday.

"Losing Scottie will be a big loss. He is a proven goal scorer and brings production to the right side," said Thorpe. "Fortunately, we have some depth and will look to guys like Shawn Evans, Aaron Wilson, Joel McCready and Mat MacLeod to step up. I wish Scott a fast recovery. He will come back better than ever."

Evans was to begin his fifth season with the Knighthawks in 2009. In 64 career games with Rochester, he has registered 287 points while collecting 306 loose balls. Evans finished the 2008 season with 44 goals and 78 points, good enough for second and third on the team, respectively. His 44 tallies on the year were also fourth best in the league.

Evans also appeared in his first All-Star game this past season, contributing three assists to help the East defeat the West with a 17-16 overtime win. The Peterborough, Ontario, native recorded his best season during the 2007 season, notching career highs in points (87) and goals (45) en route to capturing his first NLL championship.

The Knighthawks will open the season at home on Saturday, January 10th against the rival Philadelphia Wings at 8:05 p.m. at The Blue Cross Arena.
