22-year-old is first-year member of Rock Dance Team
01/19/2009
This year the Toronto Rock Dance Team welcomes newcomer, Laura, 22. Although this is her first year to dance for the Rock, she is no stranger to the dance scene.Laura has been dancing since the age of three and was part of a competitive dance team until a couple of years ago. After that she danced for the Canadian Football Team, The Toronto Argonauts for 2 years.
So why did she decide to dance for professional sports teams?
"First of all, I love to dance and perform" she says. "Second, the energy and enthusiasm from the crowd is unlike any other I've ever experienced. Dancing for sports teams is so much fun and the girls on the team this year are truly amazing!"
Her amazing talent and genuine smile earned her a spot on the Toronto Rock dance team this season as she beat out many other girls for a spot on the 12 member team.
"Laura always arrives ready and eager to learn and even compared to some of the veterans, she never forgets the dances and takes on a leadership role which makes my job easy" says Tiffany Richardson, Toronto Rock Dance Team coordinator.
Laura admits that being part of a team that is deeply involved in the community as well as meeting so many new and fascinating people is what drives her to be part of the sports entertainment world.
In her spare time Laura enjoys playing soccer and snowboarding as well as volunteering for all sorts of organizations.
"Laura is just the kind of team member we need to create the energy to bring a Championship back to Toronto. She's got spunk and a positive attitude and if the guys on the field can play as hard as she does, we've got this season in the bag."
