Fourth-year member of Bandettes is a UBuffalo alum

Meghan, a Captain of the Buffalo Bandettes, is entering her fourth season as a dancer for the World Champion Buffalo Bandits lacrosse team. Last season, as a co-captain, Meghan demonstrated outstanding leadership skills, dedication to her team and a positive attitude that made her an obvious choice as Captain of the 2009 Bandettes.

In addition to dancing for the world champions, Meghan is an expert on Bandits lacrosse. She consistently follows the team's statistics, knows their history, and is always trying to learn more about the sport.

"I feel that as long as I'm on the dance team, I want to know about the Bandits team, learn the rules and become a fully involved fan," Meghan said. It's no wonder that she says her favorite thing about being a Bandette is performing in front of the most enthusiastic fans in the league.

"I'm also very grateful for the life-long friendships I've made with my teammates throughout the years," Meghan added.

Like many dancers, Meghan's road to professional dancing started at a young age. She joined her first dance class at age 5 and danced in the Nutcracker with the Russian Moscow Ballet at ages 11 and 12 in her hometown of Syracuse, NY. All the while, Meghan studied ballet, modern, tap, jazz and lyrical at a ballet studio in her hometown. After moving to Buffalo with her family, Meghan studied dance at the University at Buffalo and was a member of the university's Zodiaque Dance Company.

Besides being a Buffalo Bandette, Meghan is married and a mother to her 6-year-old daughter, whom she calls, "my little princess." She also teaches ballet, lyrical and private dance lessons at a studio in Western New York.
