04/18/2009
Marielizabeth, 19, is only a rookie for the Philadelphia Angels dance team, but has proved she has what it takes to be an NLL dancer. Marie, as her friends call her, has been dancing Modern Jazz for almost 18 years. She is currently an undergraduate at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, where she majors in Jazz.Upon graduation, Marie hopes to start her career at the Koresh Dance School in Philadelphia. She takes classes there in her spare time, and knows she wants to become part of their professional company. She will educate students on unique types of dance and will also perform on tour. As for now, Marie juggles working part-time at Rita's Water Ice and as a caterer, dancing for the Angels and going to school full-time.
This is Marie's first year dancing for the Wings, and she enjoys every minute of it.
"I love dancing with the Wings. The best part is that I feel like I am a mentor to children. I believe that if they see me accomplishing what I do, than they will know they can accomplish anything, too."
Her favorite memory was the first time she stepped out on the field to perform at the Wings home opener.
"I had no idea it would be such a thrill. The adrenaline rush was something I never thought I would have experienced."
You would be surprised to know that Marie has a passion for photography and music, adores ice cream and watches Pirates of the Caribbean virtually every day.
