Rochester re-signs 8 players during a busy week

Rochester Knighthawks General Manager Regy Thorpe has announced that the team has re-signed eight players for the upcoming season. The Knighthawks re-signed forwards Mat MacLeod, Peter Jacobs, Pat Saunders, and Dean Hill to two-year deals, as well as re-signing defenseman/transition man Chris Schiller, forwards Jamie Rooney and Joe Walkters, and transition man Bobby McBride to one-year deals.
Schiller enters his ninth season with the Rochester Knighthawks in 2010. Last season, he recorded eight goals, 11 assists and 100 loose balls in 16 games. He is eighth on the team's all-time list in loose balls with 550. He is also a three-time winner of the team's Unsung Hero award (2002-03, 2006 and 2008). He was a member of the 2007 NLL Championship team.
MacLeod will play in his third season in Rochester this season. In two seasons, the Owen Sound, Ontario, native he has seven goals, eight assists and 50 loose balls in 16 games.
Jacobs will play in his first season with the Knighthawks in 2010. He was acquired in a trade with the Toronto Rock on July 7th for defenseman Sandy Chapman. Last season, he chipped in 20 goals and nine assists.
Hill enters his second season with the Knighthawks and fifth in the NLL. He collected five points (2 3) in three games with Rochester in 2009. On February 19th, he was acquired by Rochester, along with forward Craig Point, from the Minnesota Swarm for forward Aaron Wilson and a conditional draft pick. When he was acquired by Rochester, Hill was fourth on the Minnesota Swarm in points with 11 (2 9) in four games. He played in Minnesota for three plus seasons (2006-09) and collected 49 goals and 41 assists in 27 games.
This past season, Walters made his National Lacrosse League debut with his hometown Knighthawks. He played in 15 games and collected eight goals, 12 assists and 50 loose balls.
Rooney completed his second season in the NLL in 2009. He collected five goals and three assists in seven games after arriving in Rochester following a trade with the Titans. Before the trade, he registered seven goals, seven assists and 30 loose balls in 10 games with the Titans. In his career, he has 32 goals, 33 assists and 105 loose balls in 32 games.
McBride enters his third season in the NLL in 2010. The Newmarket, Ontario, native played in 10 games and recorded six goals, nine assists and 63 loose balls with the Knighthawks. During his rookie season in 2007, he collected eight goals, 13 assists and 73 loose balls in 13 games.
Saunders enters his second season in Rochester after appearing in one game last season. He was originally selected in the sixth round (76th overall) of the 2008 NLL Entry Draft.
The Knighthawks made the playoffs in 2009 with a 7-9 record, where they lost to the Titans in the first round.
