Swarm sign three free agents, re-sign Cinosky

09/30/2009

The Minnesota Swarm have announced the free agent signings of defenseman Brock Boyle and forwards Alex Henderson and Steve Hutchins to one-year contracts for the 2010 season. Minnesota also re-signed second year defenseman Joe Cinosky to a one-year contract.

Cinosky, 24, was drafted in the first round (13th overall) by the Swarm in the 2008 NLL Entry Draft and collected 21 loose balls in five contests with the team last season.

"Joe impressed us with his aggressive play towards the end of last year and we are hoping to build on that in training camp with his size and athleticism," stated General Manager Marty O'Neill.

Boyle will return to the Swarm for the second time in his career after he appeared in 43 games with the club from 2005-07. Boyle, 27, has recorded 56 points (30g, 26a) along with 168 loose balls during his six-year career in the NLL, which most recently found him with the Rochester Knighthawks in 2009.

"We are excited to have Boyle in camp, he fits right in with our up-tempo style of play. He scored some huge goals for us in the past and we are looking forward to see what he can do this fall," said O'Neill.

Minnesota rounded out their signings with the addition of two forwards in Henderson, 22, and Hutchins, 23.

"Henderson plays a physical brand of lacrosse. I looked at drafting him quite high in the 2007 draft if he had entered, but he stayed in college. He's a versatile left-handed forward who can play both offense and defense," stated O'Neill.
