TRADE REACTION & SIGNINGS CONTINUE

More opinions on Prout-Gajic trade; Calgary signs Ranger

11/03/2009

Reaction continues to come in from around the league following one of the biggest trades of the off-season. The trade became official on Saturday, October 31, as Colorado traded Gavin Prout, Andrew Potter and two first round selections in the 2010 Entry Draft to the Rochester in exchange for the rights to Ilija Gajic and their first round selection in the 2012 Entry Draft.

In Rochester, Sports Columnist Bob Matthews of the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle states that "the 2010 Knighthawks have assembled one of the most awesome groups of offensive players in the history of indoor lacrosse — at least on paper".

Matthews points out that Prout now joins John Grant Jr., Gary Gait, Shawn Williams, Shawn Evans and Scott Evans (if healthy) among the team's forwards. The trade also means the Knighthawks now hold three first round selections in the 2010 NLL Entry Draft.

In Calgary, Roughnecks President and General Manager Brad Banister announced that the club has signed forward Scott Ranger to a three-year deal. Ranger, 26, tallied 19 goals and 32 assists for 51 points in 15 regular season games last season. In that time, he recorded three power play goals, five power play assists, two short-handed goals and one game-winner. In three playoff games, Ranger collected 13 points, including four goals and nine assists.
