RYAN POWELL DEALT TO RUSH IN THREE-WAY TRADE

Culp traded to Colorado, Crawford joins Minnesota

12/01/2009

With a pair of trades, three forwards are on the move. Ryan Powell goes to Edmonton, Chad Culp goes to Colorado, and Callum Crawford goes to Minnesota.

Colorado traded forward Ryan Powell to Edmonton in exchange for Callum Crawford. Colorado then traded Crawford to Minnesota in exchange for Chad Culp.

Culp had been Minnesota's all-time leading playoff scorer with 11 points in three games. In 91 regular-season games, Culp has amassed 255 career points. Twice the lefty has boasted eight-point nights, with the most recent coming on February 28, 2009 when he scored two goals and assisted on six others against Buffalo. "Chad is a very gritty ball player that will be a welcome addition to our young offense," added Mammoth president and general manager Steve Govett.

Powell, an eight-year veteran, notched 18 goals and 44 assists for 62 points last season, two shy of his career-best total logged one year earlier. Through 100 career NLL regular-season games, the 31-year-old Syracuse University product has racked up 119 goals and 207 assists for 326 points along with 442 loose balls.

"Ryan will obviously play a significant role for us particularly as a set-up man with his excellent passing abilities," noted Rush GM & Head Coach Derek Keenan. "Ryan is also a big-game player as he showed during his playoffs experience two years ago. He will be an exciting complement to the much-improved offensive attack we have in store for the 2010 season."

Crawford recorded 41 points (19g, 22a) and 48 loose balls in 13 contests with the Edmonton last year. The native of Calgary has tallied 99 points (47g, 52a), 27 PIM and 142 loose balls over his four-year career.

"Trading Chad was one of the hardest moves I've ever had to make in my career. He brought a ton of character to our team and contributed a lot on the field whether it was scoring goals, hustling, or making plays on special teams," said Swarm General Manager Marty O'Neill. "Basically we needed to add some insurance to our right side and we had seven left-handers fighting for five spots in camp. It just made sense for us to go out and get another quality right-handed forward in Callum."
