By Patrick Gordon for NLL.comThe Orlando Titans (4-3) entertain the Philadelphia Wings (2-7) in a pivotal divisional clash tonight at Amway Arena at 7:35pm EST.
The Titans won the previous meeting between the two clubs on opening night, 13-8, behind a four goal performance by Casey Powell. Pat Maddalena and Mike McLellan contributed two goals each.
Orlando aims to rebound from last week's 12-10 loss in Buffalo. Powell paced the offense with five goals and an assist.
"We played okay early, but Buffalo got a bit of momentum going and I think we dug ourselves into a little bit of a hole," said Titans Head Coach Ed Comeau. "Credit goes to Buffalo. We battled back and got within a couple goals to make it an exciting game down the stretch."
The Wings enter the weekend in desperation mode, trailing Rochester by three games for the final playoff spot in the East Division.
Kyle Wailes recorded a hat trick in last week's losing effort in Calgary. Drew Westervelt chipped in with six points (1G, 5A).
"Orlando is a solid team from the goal all the way forward to the defense and transition guys," said Wings Head Coach David Huntley. "We have our hands full going down there on Friday night and it's certainly a massive game for us."
The Titans trail Toronto by a half-game for the top spot in the East Division.
"We've played okay, but have plenty of work to do," Comeau said. "Our focus now is knowing we have a lot of games left so we can continue to improve and continue to win some games."
It's the first of two games for both clubs this weekend. The Titans play at Rochester on Saturday, while the Wings head home to host Minnesota on Saturday.
