BLAZERS ACQUIRE GILES AT TRADE DEADLINE

Boston adds a veteran forward for the playoff push

03/17/2010

The Boston Blazers have made a move to bolster their lineup at the trade deadline, acquiring forward Mat Giles from the Philadelphia Wings in exchange for rookie transition player David Cutten, plus a second round selection in the 2010 NLL Entry Draft, and future considerations.

Giles, who was in his second year with Philadelphia, was fourth on the Wings in scoring with 31 points (13G, 18A). The 13 year veteran recorded 101 points (36G, 65A) in 25 career games with the Wings.

Cutten has one assist and 10 loose balls in three games played with Boston in 2010. He was originally signed by the Edmonton Rush in 2008 as a rookie free agent before being traded to Toronto then Boston. He did not play in any games for either Edmonton or Toronto.

The Blazers are 5-5, and currently tied with the Knighthawks for third place in the Eastern Division. Following the Orlando Titans, who lead the Eastern Division with a 6-3 record, the Blazers are one of four teams in a tightly-packed race for second place. The Wings are currently in sixth place with a 3-8 record.
