Wings sign three for 2013

Philadelphia re-signs Mundorf and Heim, adds Funk

The Philadelphia Wings have signed forward Brendan Mundorf along with defensemen Pat Heim and Josh Funk to one-year contracts for the 2013 season.

In his third season in Philadelphia in 2012, Mundorf ranked second on the team in assists (44) and third in points (72). The Baltimore, MD native and UMBC alumnus recorded 28 goals last season and has tallied 267 career points over five seasons in the league.

The local product Heim, a Penn State alumnus, was drafted by the Wings in 2007 and will enter his sixth season in the league. The Wayne, PA native is looking to capitalize on his career-high 44% faceoff win rate in 2012. Heim also retrieved 29 loose balls for the Wings last season.

Funk, a former Ohio State Buckeye, joins the Wings after two seasons playing with the Minnesota Swarm. The defender figures to add depth to a defense that averaged nearly 13 goals against in 2012.

The Wings will open the 2013 season at home against the Buffalo Bandits at Wells Fargo Center on Friday, Jan. 11 at 7 p.m.
