In a trade completed on Friday, the Philadelphia Wings have acquired four transition players, Paul Rabil, Jordan Hall, Joel White, and Robbie Campbell, in addition to a second-round selection in the 2014 NLL Entry Draft from the Rochester Knighthawks in exchange for forward Dan Dawson, defenseman Paul Dawson and a first-round selection in the 2016 NLL Entry Draft.

The Wings acquire a transition standout and proven winner in Rabil, who helped the Washington Stealth win a championship with consecutive title game appearances in 2010 and 2011. Hall scored 31 points in 10 games for Rochester last season before undergoing season-ending knee surgery in March. White played in six games as a rookie last season and collected 34 loose balls for the Knighthawks. The rookie Campbell was Rochester's third-round pick (26th overall) in the 2012 NLL Entry Draft.

“This trade allows us the opportunity to get the most recognizable player in the sport to join our team," said Wings owner and president Michael French. "Paul Rabil is in the prime of his career and plays a big part in our plans to get younger and more athletic. Paul can play really any position on the field with his speed and power.”

Rochester acquires one of the game's top playmakers in Dan Dawson, who ranked second and third respectively in the NLL with 78 assists and 103 points (25+78) last season. Dawson, a six-time NLL All-Star and seven-time NLL All-Pro Selection, was named NLL MVP in 2009. The 31-year-old enters his 12th season in the NLL ranked eighth on the league's all-time scoring list.

Dan Dawson will try to help the defending champion Knighthawks repeat in 2013.

“You talk about wanting to be part of a championship organization, and you start with Curt and everything he has done for the sport and for lacrosse in Rochester,” he said. “Just to be part of the defending champs is an honor. Paul and I are super excited and will do everything we can to keep the Cup in Rochester.”

Defenseman Paul Dawson, Dan's brother, recovered 53 loose balls and forced eight turnovers over 16 games with the Wings last year.

“It feels good. They are talented players and are also character guys on the floor and in the locker room,” said Knighthawks head coach Mike Hasen. “Curt [Styres], Landon [Miller] and Jody [Gage] are always trying to improve our team. They stay on top of things to always make us better.”
