Toronto Clinches Regular Season Crown

The Toronto Rock clinched their third-straight National Lacrosse League Regular Season title and secured home field advantage throughout the 2001 Champion's Cup Playoffs by
defeating the Rochester Knighthawks 11-4, at the Air Canada Centre Thursday night.

The Knighthawks and the Washington Power have clinched playoff berths for the 2001 playoffs. The Buffalo Bandits and the Philadelphia Wings remain in contention for the fourth and final playoff spot. The top four finishers at the conclusion of the regular season are eligible for the single elimination playoffs that will begin on April 20-22. The Championship game will be played on the weekend of April 27-29. The regular season concludes on April 14, 2001.

Based on Toronto's victory over the Rochester Knighthawks on Thursday, the following are the latest playoff scenarios for contending teams:

Toronto Rock
Toronto has clinched the NLL regular season title and home field throughout playoffs.

Rochester Knighthawks
Games remaining: 4/7 Albany
Rochester has clinched a playoff berth.
Rochester may earn a first round playoff game with a victory over Albany AND one Philadelphia loss.

Philadelphia Wings
Games remaining: 4/7 @ Columbus; 4/14 @ Albany
Philadelphia clinches a playoff berth and a first round home playoff game with two wins.
Philadelphia can also clinch a playoff berth with one win AND a Buffalo loss.
Philadelphia also clinches a playoff spot with one win AND two Rochester losses.

Buffalo Bandits
Games remaining: 4/7 @ New York
Buffalo clinches a playoff berth with a win over New York AND one loss by Philadelphia AND at least one Rochester win.
Buffalo also can clinch a playoff berth with two Philadelphia losses.

Washington Power
Washington Power has clinched a playoff berth.
