Wings' Cline Named Nll Executive Of The Year

(Lyndhurst, NJ)- Russ Cline, President and Co-Owner of the Philadelphia Wings Lacrosse Club, has been named NLL Executive of the Year.

Under Cline's leadership, the Philadelphia Wings enjoyed another outstanding season, both on and off the field. The Wings finished the regular season 10-4, and will play for the NLL Championship against the Toronto Rock on Friday. During the regular season, the Wings were a smashing success at the gate, with an average attendance of more than 15,000 fans per game at Philadelphia's First Union Center.

Cline is one of the original founders of the League. In 1986, Cline and Wings Co-Owner Chris Fritz started the League with four teams, including the Wings. Cline has been a central figure in the League's steady growth over the past 15 years. Cline hails from the Kansas City, Missouri area, where his business accomplishments include a highly successful marketing career with the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League.

Cline is also the president of Russ Cline and Associates (RCA) and Russ Cline Enterprises. His list of accomplishments of management marketing included: the Florida Suncoast Dome, the Bayfront Center Arena and Mahaffey Theatre in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Russ Cline and Associates also represented the marketing interests of Kemper Arena, Municipal Auditorium, American Royal Arena, Little Theatre and Governors Exposition Building in Kansas City. Cline has also successfully staged Davis Cup events and Fed Cup events in conjunction with the United States Tennis Association.

RCA has also consulted to ESPN on the winter and summer "X Games."
Cline and his wife, Melanie reside in Lee's Summit, Missouri with their 13-year-old son, Ryan. He also has two grown children, Lisa Cline Boehm and Lori Cline Mosier and six grandchildren.

"I am deeply honored and humbled by this award," said Cline. "The Wings are a very unique family that I am proud to be a part of. Working together with the owners of all our teams and our league office, we are seeing the NLL grow by leaps and bounds. I'm proud to be a part of our continued success."

On Cline, NLL Commissioner Jim Jennings said, "Without Russ, the league would not be here today. His vision, business smarts and continued guidance are an integral part of our success. We congratulate him on this great award."

Other executives receiving nominations included Jody Gage, General Manager, Rochester Knighthawks; Bill Watters, Owner, Toronto Rock; Brad Watters, Governor,Toronto Rock, and Shae Sperry, Director of Lacrosse Operations, Philadelphia Wings.
