(Toronto, Ontario)-Philadelphia Wings goalkeeper Dallas Eliuk was chosen as the Most Valuable Player of the 2001 NLL Championship Game. Eliuk stopped 40 of 48 shots in leading the Wings to a 9-8 victory over the Toronto Rock in the NLL Championship Game on Friday.
Eliuk, the 5'-10'', 180 pound Goalkeeper from Vancouver, British Columbia has now won four league championships, all as a member of the Wings. Eliuk was also voted MVP of the 1998 NLL Championship Series.
"Dallas played tremendous, as always," said Philadelphia Wings Head Coach Tony Resch. "With Dallas, we always have a chance to win-no matter who we're playing."
Eliuk is no stranger to the playoffs, having now played in 19 league playoff games over eleven seasons. After receiving the award, the veteran Goalkeeper praised his teammates.
"If I could, I would divide this award in to 17 pieces for my teammates," said Eliuk. "They played a tremendous game in front of me."
