National Lacrosse League Commissioner Jim Jennings made a formal visit to the city of Montreal, Quebec and the Molson Centre today.
Jennings, accompanied by members of the Toronto Rock & Ottawa Rebel ownership group, toured the facility and met with local officials. The ownership group, led by Brad Watters, is attempting to place an expansion franchise in Montreal for the upcoming season. The team would be the League's thirteenth franchise.
"The Molson Centre is a great facility," said Jennings. "The response here has been very positive."
The Montreal franchise received conditional approval from the League's Board of Governors in March. A final decision by the Board on the potential Montreal franchise is expected in the next few weeks. The League's deadline for all expansion and/or franchise relocation for the 2001-2002 season is June 1st.
