Bandits, Knighthawks Pull Off Blockbuster Trade

By National Lacrosse League

The National Lacrosse League announces the following trade today:

The Buffalo Bandits trade Shawn Williams, Derek Malawsky and D'Arcy Sweet to the Rochester Knighthawks for Casey Powell (left), Rusty Kruger, Pat McCready and Steve Dietrich.

In one of the biggest trades in League history, two sets of brothers are re-united. Casey Powell joins his brother Ryan with the Bandits, while Derek Malawsky will play alongside his brother Curt in Rochester.

"We have just acquired one the game's most dynamic players in Casey Powell," said Kurt Silcott, General Manager of the Bandits. "In Steve Dietrich, we now have one of the league's top goalkeepers. Kruger and McCready will help us replace the scoring we're giving up from Shawn Williams. McCready will also give us help at the defensive end of the floor."

"We've added a lot of offensive punch," said Jody Gage, General Manager of the Knighthawks. "These three players will greatly improve our offense."

The Bandits also released Bill Warder.
