League To Hold 2001 Expansion Draft

The National Lacrosse League will hold its 2001 Expansion Draft on Friday, June 15th at 1pm Eastern Time. The Calgary Roughnecks, Columbus Landsharks, New Jersey Storm, Vancouver Ravens and the yet-to-be-named Montreal franchise will select players that will fill out their rosters. Calgary, New Jersey and Vancouver will enter the League as expansion teams. Montreal and Columbus will take part in the draft as part of the agreement reached to bring the hybrid expansion teams into the League.

The Draft will be held via telephone conference call, and is scheduled to be broadcast via the internet at www.NationalLacrosse.com. The Draft will consist of 36 picks, nine rounds of four picks each. The Draft order is as follows:

1. Buffalo (from Calgary)
2. New York (from New Jersey)
3. Vancouver
4. Columbus
5. New Jersey
6. Vancouver
7. Columbus
8. Calgary
9. Vancouver
10. Columbus
11. Calgary
12. New Jersey
13. Columbus
14. Calgary
15. New Jersey
16. Vancouver
17. Calgary
18. New Jersey
19. Vancouver
20. Columbus
21. New Jersey
22. Vancouver
23. Columbus
24. Calgary
25. Vancouver
26. Montreal
27. Calgary
28. New Jersey
29. Montreal
30. Calgary
31. New Jersey
32. Vancouver
33. Philadelphia (from Calgary)
34. New Jersey
35. Vancouver
36. Montreal

When an existing team loses a player as an Expansion Draft selection, the team will be able to pull back another one of their unprotected players.
