The New York Saints today named Shane Sanderson Assistant Coach for the 2001-2002 season. Sanderson brings the Saints a lifetime of coaching experience in Canada and the United States.

two seasons in Detroit, Sanderson had an 8-8 record and went to the playoffs twice.

In addition to his coaching experience in Detroit, Shane has been the General Manager and Head Coach of the Brampton Excelsiors of the Ontario Lacrosse League. As a General Manager, Sanderson led the Excelsiors to a Mann Cup victory in 1998.

"I'm very excited and looking forward to working with the Saints this season, I feel we have the talent to be in the upper echelon of the National Lacrosse League," said Sanderson.

"Shane is an excellent addition to our coaching staff, we feel this is another piece to our run towards the playoffs in 2001-02," said team owner Mike Gongas.

The New York Saints 2001-2002 season begins on November 30 with the Saints crossing the Hudson to face-off against the expansion New Jersey Storm.
