09/27/2001, 1:38pm EDT
By National Lacrosse League

The National Lacrosse League and Molson, the League's official broadcast rights holders in Canada, announced a two-year agreement with Sportsnet to carry the League's national television package for Canada. The schedule includes 26 regular season games, primarily featuring the League's five Canadian teams. The package includes the first-ever home games of the Calgary Roughnecks (November 24), the Montreal Express (November 30), and the Vancouver Ravens (December 1).

In the past month, the League has announced two national television partners in the United States. The CNN/Sports Illustrated Network and HDNet, a new high-definition sports and entertainment channel, founded by Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban.

"We are excited to have such a strong broadcast partner in Canada," said Commissioner Jim Jennings. "Sportsnet has done a great job in carrying the Toronto Rock broadcasts over the past couple of seasons, and we are pleased to welcome them as the carrier of our national package in Canada."
