The New York Saints have acquired Rusty Kruger from the Buffalo Bandits for rookie forward Jamie Taylor and second-year defenseman Scott Frizzel. Kruger (5' 8", 175 lbs.) joined the league in 1998 with the Rochester Knighthawks, playing four seasons with the club before being traded to the Bandits in the off-season.

The Orangeville, Ontario native posted a career-high 30 points (10G, 20A) in 2000-2001 with the Knighthawks as he has increased his point production each season since entering the league in 1998.

"Rusty brings an unparalleled level of leadership both on and off the field. His grit and scoring ability will provide a solid anchor on our left side to balance out our offense. We've been after Rusty for a while and we're thrilled to acquire a player of his caliber," said team President and General Manager Mike Gongas.

Kruger has made two trips to the NLL Championship game, both with Rochester in 1999 and 2000. Rusty has also won three Minto Cup Championships with Orangeville in 1993, 1995, and 1996. Rusty was named MVP of the Minto Cup in 1995.
