The New York Saints continued their flurry of roster moves today adding more firepower to an already potent offensive attack. Earlier today, the New York Saints announced that they have acquired Kris Bryde and Kevin Lunnie from the Columbus Landsharks in exchange the Saints' first-round draft pick in next year's draft.
Bryde (6' 1", 190 lbs.) spent last season with the Ottawa Rebel where he turned in a most impressive rookie campaign. The Richmond, British Columbia native led all Ottawa goal-scorers with 26 goals while his 44 points (26G, 18 A) were second only to Del Halladay. Bryde was named NLL Rookie of the Month for the month of February collecting 12 points (7G, 5A) in 3 games played. At the conclusion of the 2000-01 season, Bryde was also named to the NLL All-Rookie Team.
Lunnie (5' 10", 175 lbs.) appeared in only 5 games last season with the Albany Attack. Originally from Oshawa, Ontario, Kevin possesses strong stickwork along with great field vision and can expect to see more playing time this season.
"We've been building all off-season and this is just another piece of the puzzle, " said team President and General Manager Mike Gongas. "Adding a First-Team All-Rookie player like Kris Bryde solidifies our left side and brings us one step closer to bringing Long Island its' first NLL title."
