The New York Saints acquired third-year defenseman Darren Mutch from the Toronto Rock in exchange for New York's second round draft pick in the 2003 Entry Draft.
Mutch (5' 11", 200lbs.) split last season with the Rochester Knighthawks and the Columbus Landsharks before being dealt to the Toronto Rock this past off-season. The St. Catherines, Ontario native will be looked upon to add a more physical presence in the Saints' defense.
"Darren is a tremendously physical player that will without a doubt strengthen our defense, " said team President and General Manager Mike Gongas. "Darren is a role player and he's willing to mix it up with anyone on the floor. We have been building up our offense throughout the off-season and the addition of a player like (Darren) Mutch brings our team defense to a level that perfectly compliments our offensive threats."
