Albany Calms Storm In League Opener

The Albany Attack recorded its first win of the 2001-2002 season with a 20-16 victory over the expansion New Jersey Storm in the National Lacrosse League?s season opener tonight at the Pepsi Arena.

Led by forward Mike Regan?s five points (5g), the Attack jumped out to an early 7-1 first quarter lead and never looked back.

For the Storm it was forward Matt Panetta leading his squad with 5 points (3g-2a) including his teams first-ever goal at 4:03 of the first quarter.

Albany goaltender Rob Blasdell stopped 42 of 58 shots while across the floor New Jersey net minder Matt Roik made five saves before being lifted for goaltender Derek General who stopped 40 of 54 shots.

With the win Albany improves to 1-0 on the season while New Jersey drops to 0-1.
