John Tavares (3 goals, 3 assists) and Randy Mearns (3 goals, 2 assists) led a balanced scoring attack as the Buffalo Bandits defeated the Washington Power 17-15 at HSBC Arena in the season opener for both clubs.
Washington led 7-6 at halftime. Buffalo outscored the Power 6-1 in the third period on the way to the victory.
Gary Gait (3 goals, 7 assists) led the way for Washington on offense. Del Halladay scored 3 goals and 4 assists in his Power debut. Paul Gait added 4 goals and 3 assists.
Steve Dietrich picked up the win in goal in his Buffalo debut, stopping 40 out of 55 Washington shots. Devin Dalep took the loss, stopping 40 out of 57 shots.
