The New York Saints stayed unbeaten after defeating the Calgary Roughnecks in their home opener by a score of 20-14. Game MVP Roy Colsey scored the game winner, one of his six goals on the night.
The scored stayed close throughout the first half. Calgary led 9- 8 at halftime, powered by former Saints Chris Panos (4 goals) and Ben Prepchuck (4 goals).
New York (now 2-0) took control in the third quarter, outscoring Calgary 8-1. Roy Colsey scored 3 goals in the quarter, and Gavin Prout added a pair to lead the way for the Saints in the quarter.
The loss drops Calgary drops to 1-3. The Roughnecks host expansion rival Columbus Landsharks next Friday at the Pengrowth Saddledome.
The Saints host the Buffalo Bandits at the Nassau Coliseum next Sunday.
