The Calgary Roughnecks reeled off six unanswered goals -- including a Chris Panos hat trick -- in the third quarter on the way to a 20-13 win over the Columbus Landsharks Friday at the Pengrowth Saddledome.
Ben Prepchuk scored the game-winner at 10:05 of the third quarter.
Panos finished with six goals, plus assists on tallies by Jason Wulder, Kaleb Toth and Prepchuk, all after halftime. Toth (5g, 4a) and Kyle Goundrey (1g, 8a) also had nine points, while Prepchuk scored four goals and assisted on two others.
The winless Landsharks scored the first two goals of the game, including Kasey Beirnes' shorthanded tally at 5:01 of the opening period, and held the Roughnecks to a single-goal advantage, 9-8, at the half. Gewas Schindler scored three Columbus goals, while Spencer Martin, Neal Powless and Cory Kahoun had two apiece.
Calgary rookie netminder Matt King made 19 first-quarter saves, and finished with 52 stops and the win.
