Craig Stevenson scored the deciding goal at 9:51 of the third quarter, and the Vancouver Ravens went on to defeat the Montreal Express 17-13 Friday night at the Molson Centre.
The game was tied 10-10 at halftime, and Ted Dowling slipped the ball past netminder Dwight Maetche to give Montreal a short-lived advantage 22 seconds into the third quarter. Matt Dwayne tied the score with a shorthanded goal at 3:32. Stevenson then helped the Ravens put the game away with assists on third-quarter tallies by Jamey Bowen and Matt Dwane, plus his own game-winner.
Fourth-quarter goals by Bruce Murray, Dwane and Kevin Hanson kept Vancouver on top.
Maetche finished with three assists, as well as the win in goal. Dwane paced the Vancouver offense with four goals. Chris Gill had a hat trick and an assist.
Dowling and Joe Hiltz scored four apiece for Montreal, and Tracy Keluskey had five assists.
