Nll Week 7 Preview

12/26/2001, 3:36pm EST
By National Lacrosse League

In the last weekend of National Lacrosse League action in 2001, the teams competing in this week?s slate of games will do the best they can to help the league end the year the same way it was entered, with intensity and excitement. All of the action gets underway on Friday evening.

The Calgary Roughnecks will make their way across the border into the United States for the first of two games this weekend. The Roughnecks travel to New Jersey on Friday evening for a 7:30 pm (Eastern Time) start time. The game marks the second meeting between the two teams in the past week, with Calgary taking a 20-11 victory over the Storm at home last Friday.

After winning their first two games of the season, the New York Saints have since dropped their last two contests. The team is looking to get back to their winning ways when they face-off against the Columbus Landsharks on Friday night. The Landsharks, who have played just two games this season, are still in search of their first victory. Game time at the Nationwide Arena is set for 8pm (Eastern Time). The game will be shown live across the United States on both the CNN/SI network and HDNet as the NLL Game of the Week.

On Saturday evening in Rochester, the 3-1 Knighthawks host the Calgary Roughnecks at 7:30pm (Eastern Time). The Roughnecks will be playing in their second game in as many days while Rochester look to extend their home unbeaten streak to three games. Both squads currently occupy the second place spot in their respective divisions and are eyeing the first place spot.

One of the NLL?s most famed and celebrated rivalries will heat up once again on Saturday night when the Philadelphia Wings square off against the Buffalo Bandits at the HSBC Arena. The Wings are searching for their second win of the season after dropping a hard fought 15-10 battle against Rochester two weeks ago. The Bandits on the other hand are currently in third place in the NLL Central Division and are looking to gain ground on second place. The two teams will lineup for the first face-off at 8pm (Eastern Time).
