Knighthawks Edge Roughnecks

It was an all too familiar scenario for the Rochester Knighthawks, tied with under a minute to go and Kaleb Toth with the ball. But this time the Roughnecks' goal scorer was denied the game winner against the 'Hawks and it was Rochester with the last-minute heroics.

Rochester's Derek Malawsky scored with 19 seconds to play to gave the Knighthawks a 14-13 win over the Calgary Roughnecks at The Blue Cross Arena on Saturday night.

Toth, who scored the game-winning goal for the Toronto Rock against the 'Hawks in the 2000 National Lacrosse League Championship game, scored six goals and added three assists.

Shawn Williams led Rochester with four goals and four assists. Derek Malawsky (2 2) and Cory Bomberry (0 4) each had four points for the Knighthawks. Pat O'Toole made 42 saves to earn his third win of the season. Matt King stopped 33 shots for the Roughnecks, who fell to 4-4. The Knighthawks are 4-1 and tied for first place in the Central Division with the Albany Attack.
