The first Player of the Month Award for the 2001-2002 Season goes to Tracey Kelusky of the Montreal Express. The award covers games played from November 16th (Opening Night) through December 31st, 2001.
In the four games the Express played during the period, Kelusky scored eleven goals and dished out 24 assists for a total of 35 points. Kelusky is averaging 8.75 points per game, tops in the League. As team captain, Kelusky?s play has propelled the Montreal Express to a 3-1 record through the first quarter of the team?s regular season schedule.
A native of Peterborough, Ontario, Kelusky was the first overall player selected in the 2000 Entry Draft. The 5?10" 170-pound forward won the League?s Rookie of the Year Award last season, after tallying 24 goals and 27 assists for 51 points while playing for the Columbus Landsharks.
