COLUMBUS--Gewas Schindler scored three goals and assisted on three more, and goalie Ken Montour made 49 saves, to lead the Columbus Landsharks to their third straight win, 19-15 over the Washington Power Sunday at Nationwide Arena.
The Landsharks put the game away with a four-goal run at the top of the fourth quarter. Neal Powless scored his only two goals of the game at 1:47 and 4:16, Kasey Beirnes added a power play tally at 4:16, and Brent Rothfuss capped the barrage at 8:39, leaving the Landsharks with a 16-11 advantage.
Steve Gloeckner put Columbus on the board 41 seconds after the opening faceoff. Matt Shearer and Paul Gait responded to give the Power their only lead of the game, 2-1 at the 2:08 mark.
Gait scored twice more in the closing minutes of the second stanza to tie the halftime score at 10-10, but Bill Greer put the Landsharks back on top with a shorthanded goal at 4:03 of the third. Kyle Arbuckle padded the lead with a power play goal at the 10:01 mark. Gary Gait pulled the Power within one (12-11) at the intermission, before Columbus put the game away.
Arbuckle finished with four goals, Beirnes had two goals and an assist, and Powless and Cory Kahoun each contributed two goals and two assists for the Landsharks.
Paul Gait paced Washington with four goals. Del Halladay and Gary Gait each recorded hat tricks, and Halladay racked up three assists.
