Dowling, Kelusky Help Express Hold Off Rebel

Ted Dowling and Tracey Kelusky each scored four goals as the Montreal Express handed the Ottawa Rebel their sixth loss of the season, 20-15 Friday at the Molson Centre.

Kelusky powered the Express to a 7-3 first quarter lead, scoring at 9:58 and 14:03, and assisting on goals by Dowling at 6:24, Peter Lough at 8:25 and Dean Harrison at 13:17. Jason Crosbie started the barrage one minute into the game, and Todd Richard collected the first of his two goals at 10:25.

The Rebel, led by Ryan Painter (three goals) and Craig Konopliff (four goals) battled back through the second and third periods, tying the score 13-13 with a pair of power play tallies by Stephen Evans at 12:53 and 14:00 of the third.

Lough's second goal, at 4:41 of the final stanza, put Montreal in front for good, and the Express finished the game with four unanswered tallies, including two by Harrison.

Konopliff led all scorers with five goals and six assists. Evans also scored five for Ottawa, while Mike Benedict added two goals and five assists.
