The Washington Power held onto first place in the Eastern Division with a 17-12 victory at the Nassau Coliseum, in the first of a home- and-home series this weekend with the New York Saints.

The two teams traded goals early on, with Del Halladay leading the Power with two goals. After the first quarter, the score was tied at three, but it didn't stay that way for long.

Paul Gait began the second quarter with the first of a 5-0 shutout quarter for the Power. Josh Sims, Del Halladay, and Gary Gait joined in with goals as well. The dominating goaltending of Devin Dalep helped shut down the Saints offense entirely.

Paul Gait led the Power with five goals and four assists. Kris Bryde led New York with four goals and one assist.

The Saints and Power play again tomorrow night, at 8:00 at the Capital Centre in Landover, MD.
