Josh Sanderson had a hat trick and five assists as the Albany Attack cruised past the Calgary Roughnecks 12-7 Sunday in front of 9,217 at the Pengrowth Saddledome.

Calgary's lone bright spot came just 34 seconds into the game, when Jason Wulder stunned netminder Rob Blasdell to give the Roughnecks a 1-0 lead. Albany responded with nine unanswered goals, and didn't allow another Roughnecks tally until Wulder completed a hat trick with a power play goal at 6:49 of the third quarter, and shorthanded score at the 14:42 mark.

Sanderson and Mike Regan led Albany to the easy win. Regan equalized 1-1 at 2:59 of the opening stanza, and added a goal each in the second and third, plus an assist on Sanderson's third tally, 2:09 into the third quarter.

Sanderson also scored once in each of the first three periods, and dished off for two goals each by Regan and Jamie Grimoldby. Calgary caught a small spark in the fourth, with goals by Wulder, Adam Bysouth and Chris Panos within the first 4:06 of the period, and a final tally by Jesse Phillips at 9:47.

Regan finished with four goals and one assist. Albany goalscoring leader Gary Rosyski filled the playmaker's role, collecting four assists.

Wulder dominated the Calgary offense with four goals and two assists for six points. John Kilbride assisted on two of Wulder's tallies, plus Phillips' capper.

Blasdell made 37 saves, to 34 for Calgary's Matt King.
