Dan Stroup scored five goals and assisted on three others, and Steve Toll dished out seven assists as the Toronto Rock downed the Montreal Express 17-12 in front of 14,515 at Air Canada Centre Sunday afternoon. The game marked the first meeting of the two Canadian teams.

The Rock opened the scoring early, on goals by Colin Doyle and Stroup, but Express goals by Bruce Codd and Peter Lough left the teams even at the end of one, 2-2.

Squire scored twice in the second quarter to help the Rock pull out to a 7-3 lead.

Brian Bendig, Mat Giles and Tracey Kelusky scored to open the third and pull the Express to within one goal, 7-6, but that was as close as they came.

Kelusky led the Express with five goals and two assists, while Codd (1 3) and Giles (2 2) both had four points.

Bob Watson made 30 saves, as the Rock improved to 5-2, while Montreal's Curtis Palidwor stopped 44 shots as the Express fell to 6-3.
