Knighthawks Extend Home Winning Streak

By National Lacrosse League

The Rochester Knighthawks used an eight-point effort from Cory Bomberry (2 6) and a seven-point performance from rookie Ted Jenner (4 3), to earn a 20-9 victory over the New York Saints on Saturday night.

A Blue Cross Arena crowd of 8,471 watched the K-Hawks (10-3) win for the third straight time and extended their franchise-record home winning streak to 12 games, dating back to last season. With the loss, the New York Saints dropped to 4-9.

The game was tight in the first half, as Gavin Prout (2 3) and Rusty Kruger (2 1) scored late goals to pull the Saints to within 8-7. But the Knighthawks used a 12-2 run in the second half to erase any chances of a home upset. Tim Soudan (3 3), Jenner and Duane Jacobs (2 2) led a three-goal third quarter.

Goaltender Pat O'Toole made 10 saves in the third as he shut out the Saints.

Kruger and Chris Driscoll (2 3) scored for New York in the fourth quarter. Rochester outscored New York 9-2 in the final quarter. John Grant (4 1) led the 'Hawks with three goals in the fourth quarter.
