Grant Blazes A Path Through Buffalo

The Rochester Knighthawks used an eight-point night from John Grant to defeat the Central Division rival Buffalo Bandits 12-7 at The Blue Cross Arena. A Saturday night crowd of 9,724 watched the K-Hawks win their 13th straight game at home.

Rochester (11-3) also broke two franchise records with the win over the Bandits. The Knighthawks broke the single-season mark for wins with seven and won for the 11th time in a season, breaking last year's record of 10.

The game was hard fought for the first 30 minutes. Rochester led 5-3 at halftime, as Grant led the way with one goal and two assists.

Jonas Derks led the Bandits, scoring two of his team-high four goals. Buffalo fought back in the third quarter and tied the game at seven on John Tavares' second of the night, but Rochester scored the next five straight goals to win 12-7.

Grant finished the night with three goals and five assists. Shawn Williams registered three goals and Tim Soudan collected one goal and three assists for Rochester. In goal, Buffalo's Steve Dietrich made 48 saves and Rochester's Pat O'Toole stopped 42 shots in the win.

Buffalo dropped to 7-8 with the loss and could find themselves out of the playoff race. Rochester hosts the Toronto Rock on Saturday, March 16th at 7:30 p.m
