Ryan Painter scored four goals as the Ottawa Rebel edged the New Jersey storm 12-10 in front of 6,535 at the Continental Arena Saturday night. The win improves the Rebel's record to 3-11, while New Jersey drops to 3-11.

Both teams matched up evenly, and opened up the game by trading off goals. However, the visiting Rebel caught fire in the second quarter, scoring five straight goals at the end of the first half, and taking an 8-6 lead into halftime.

The Storm made the necessary defensive adjustments in the second half, and scored three straight goals to take a 9-8 lead. Goaltender Matt Roik also stepped up and made several outstanding saves to hold Ottawa scoreless in the 3rd quarter. Unfortunately for the Storm, their momentum faded in the 4th quarter, as they could only manage to tally one more goal, while the Rebel was able to find the net four more times to take the lead for good.

DJ Serr and Dan Marohl also chipped in for the Rebel, each scoring two goals, while goaltender Matt Disher stopped 41 Storm shots. For the Storm, forward Cam Bomberry added to his team leading totals by scoring a hat trick. Rookie forward Scott Stewart also played well and registered two goals for the game. In the net, Matt Roik provided another impressive performance, making 30 saves in the losing effort.
