Coaches Named For 2002 All Star Game

(New York City)-Albany Attack Head Coach Bob McMahon and Toronto Rock Head Coach Les Bartley have been named Head Coaches for the 2002 NLL All-Star Game, to be played on Sunday April 21st at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncassville, Connecticut. The game will be carried live on the CNN/Sports Illustrated Network at 2pm Eastern Time. Sportsnet is planning a tape delay broadcast, time and date TBA. The All-Star Weekend will happen one week after the NLL Champions Cup Final (weekend of April 12-14), and will officially close out the 2001-2002 season.

McMahon has led the Attack to a 14-2 record and the number one overall seed in the 2002 Champions Cup Playoffs. The first-year head coach will lead the South All-Stars, made up of the selected players from the following teams: Albany Attack, Buffalo Bandits, Columbus Landsharks, New Jersey Storm, New York Saints, Philadelphia Wings and Washington Power.

Bartley led the Toronto Rock to an 11-5 record and the number two overall seed in the 2002 Champions Cup Playoffs. Bartley has won five League Championships as a head coach, three times with the Buffalo Bandits (1992, '93 and '96) and twice with the Toronto Rock (1999 and 2000). The Rock head coach and general manager will lead the North All-Stars, made up of the selected players from the Calgary Roughnecks, Montreal Express, Ottawa Rebel, Rochester Knighthawks, Toronto Rock and Vancouver Ravens.

The rest of the coaching staffs will consist of the other head coaches whose teams have made the Playoffs. Rochester Knighthawks head coach Paul Day (fourth seed) and Vancouver Ravens head coach Paul Dal Monte (sixth seed) will assist Bartley with the North team. Washington Power head coach Darris Kilgour (third seed) and Philadelphia Wings head coach Adam Mueller (sixth seed) will assist McMahon with the South team.

The 2002 NLL All-Star Weekend will kick off on Saturday April 20th with the League Awards Presentation and Party, 6:30pm at the Mohegan Sun. The party includes a buffet, cash bar and live entertainment. Tickets are $95 per person. The 2002 All-Star Game will be played on Sunday, April 21st at 2pm, at the Mohegan Sun Arena.
