(New York City)--Toronto Rock defenseman and team captain Jim Veltman has been selected as the recipient of the first-ever NLL Sportsmanship Award, announced today.

A ten-year League veteran, Veltman lived up to his nicknames of "Scoop" and the "Vaccum", picking up 203 loose balls (League Leader), while registering 53 points (16G, 37A) and only 22 penalty minutes for the season.

The 6'2 Brampton, Ontario native has helped lead the Rock squad to a 11-5 record, first place in the Northern Division and their fourth consecutive NLL Championship game appearance this Saturday in Albany.

The League Awards are voted on by the Board of Governors and General Managers of the League's thirteen member clubs.
