Washington Forward Paul Gait Named Most Valuable Player

(New York City)- Washington Power forward Paul Gait has been named as the 2001-2002 NLL Most Valuable Player, announced today.

Gait, who earlier this season announced his retirement from professional indoor lacrosse at seasons end, finished his 12th year of NLL play ranking first among all League scorers with 114 points (54G, 60A) to claim the NLL Scoring Title. Gait's 54 goals was also tops among all players this season.

The NLL Player of the Month for both January and March, Gait helped lead the Power to a 9-7 record, first place in the Eastern Division and a No. 3 seed
in this years NLL Champions Cup Playoffs.

In his storied career, the 6'2" Victoria, British Columbia native has won five Player of the Month awards, eleven All-Pro selections and has been a member of three separate championship clubs during his career.

The League Awards are voted on by the Board of Governors and General Managers of the League's thirteen member clubs.
